Build a research brief you can use

Put the decision into words before you write the questionnaire. This free tool assembles your inputs into an editable brief.

Describe the decision

Your answers stay in this page while you work. The builder does not send them to a server or save them in browser storage. Copy or download your brief before leaving or reloading. This tool organizes your words; it does not generate a study or assess whether an audience is supported.

Make the brief neutral and specific

Describe features and buying conditions without supplying the preferred answer. “A weekly box with four servings for $48 including delivery” gives a price question a clear reference. “An unbeatable meal kit” introduces praise instead of useful context.

When comparing names or messages, keep the offer constant. When comparing concepts, give alternatives equivalent detail. Decide whether price is part of the question or an assumption held constant across options.

Check the study setup before running

Use the brief as input to the research application, then inspect the proposed audience, question wording and answer options. A standard study supports up to ten questions; questions repeated for alternatives count separately. The builder cannot confirm which targeting conditions the application can represent.

Specify useful comparisons before seeing results. If the decision depends on actual purchases, physical product experience or professional expertise, plan the appropriate additional evidence. A generated consumer response does not verify those behaviors or qualifications.

Use the brief beyond this page

The download is a plain-text Markdown file that you can open in a text editor or adapt in a document. Share it with a colleague to check whether the decision, audience and next step agree. Keep the approved version with the final questionnaire so the results have a clear context.

Review any confidential content before sharing it. The browser tool saves only when you explicitly download; it does not create an account or submit the brief to InstaSights.

Once you have saved your brief, review the study workflow and available outputs.
