InstaSights vs. SurveyMonkey for a concept study
For this comparison, the relevant SurveyMonkey product is LaunchPad Product Concept Testing—not just a generic survey-builder subscription.

A documented workflow comparison
InstaSights publishes this comparison and sells one of the products discussed. We checked the linked documentation on September 27, 2026. We have not run a controlled study on both platforms or measured comparative accuracy, completion time or ease of use. Any choice guidance below is our interpretation of the documented workflows.
What changes between the workflows
| Requirement | InstaSights | SurveyMonkey LaunchPad |
|---|---|---|
| Answer source | 250 simulated consumers per standard study. | Human responses from your contacts or its panel. |
| Design | Editable structured questionnaire, up to 10 questions; no monadic assignment claim. | Documents one concept per respondent, with up to 10 concepts per study. |
| Stimulus | Plan a written consumer concept; do not infer image/video testing from website illustrations. | Documents text, image and linked-video concepts. |
| Outputs | Summary, question results, audience comparisons, Excel and CSV. | Documents scorecards, demographic filtering and exports to PowerPoint, CSV, Excel and SPSS. |

Plan the same decision before comparing tools
Imagine a fictional countertop herb garden. Version A uses a water-level indicator; version B adds automatic watering. You need to decide whether to take either concept into a prototype test. Give both descriptions equivalent detail. Do not describe one with enthusiastic benefits and the other as a bare feature list.
Write down what the question should establish: perceived usefulness, concerns or interest in learning more. None of those alone measures whether the device will work in a home. If the crucial uncertainty is watering performance or cleaning difficulty, a questionnaire about a description cannot resolve it.
Our concept questionnaire is a starting point for a single concept. If you repeat measures for alternatives, count every repeated question against the study limit and check how each concept is presented. Do not promise isolated exposure or randomized assignment unless the actual setup supports it.
Avoid comparing percentages from different exposures
A person evaluating one concept is doing a different task from someone choosing between alternatives. “Would this help you?” and “Which is better?” have different reference points. Write down the exposure, exact question and base before comparing any numbers.
The same caution applies to respondent origin. Generated answers are not interviews with people. Even if two reports use the same labels, matching percentages would not by itself validate the simulation or make the studies equivalent. If you need a formal validation study, define a protocol and independent human reference data before seeing the results.
Budget for the configured study
The InstaSights single-study offer is $49.99 for 250 simulated consumers and up to 10 questions, with a $3 drafting allowance before drafting pauses. Review the current purchase terms and available questionnaire before paying.
SurveyMonkey describes LaunchPad as pay-per-study, with targeted responses priced separately according to sample and targeting. We have not obtained a quote for the herb-garden scenario. A generic monthly survey-builder price is not a valid substitute for that quote.
Include the cost of the evidence required after the first study. If both options would still require a prototype test, that next step belongs in the decision budget. We make no numerical savings claim here.
When each workflow belongs on your shortlist
Consider InstaSights for an exploratory, structured consumer simulation when the output will inform questions or revisions rather than stand in for actual consumer participation. Its value proposition is the dedicated study workflow and inspectable outputs, not a guarantee of market demand.
Consider the named SurveyMonkey solution when you need a human concept study with the documented exposure or stimulus requirements above. Confirm eligibility, sample bases, configuration and analysis before relying on the output. If you need interviews, physical experience or observed purchases, specify that need explicitly rather than assuming a concept survey supplies it.
For either route, keep the brief, final questionnaire, result bases, limitations and next test together. Share the source of the answers wherever the findings are reused.
