InstaSights vs. Conjointly for a naming study

Choose based on the evidence you need: a structured consumer simulation or feedback from actual people. A similar-looking results table does not make those sources interchangeable.

What this comparison covers

We publish InstaSights and have a commercial interest in the choice. This is a documentation-based comparison checked September 27, 2026, not a paid, hands-on head-to-head experiment. It compares our naming-study workflow with Conjointly Product Name Test, not every tool on Conjointly’s platform. We have not established an accuracy, turnaround-time or usability winner.

The practical differences

Documented workflow, not comparative test results

Use one concrete naming brief

Suppose you are shortlisting names for a fictional fragrance-free moisturizer: Daily Ritual, Soft Form and Bare Theory. The decision is which names to take into subsequent customer testing. The intended audience is U.S. adults who buy facial moisturizer. That is a planning brief, not a claim that either platform has confirmed every eligibility condition.

Keep the moisturizer description identical across names. Decide whether the priority is appeal, category fit or a particular association. Our annotated naming questionnaire shows how to ask those separately. A preference question and a ranking question are different measurements; do not silently treat their outputs as the same score.

Before running either workflow, inspect the exact wording and exposure. Check which names each respondent sees, whether order varies, how repeated questions count, and what response base appears under each result. Record differences instead of forcing an “apples-to-apples” label onto incompatible designs.

Compare a complete study cost

InstaSights lists a single study at $49.99, including 250 simulated consumers and up to 10 questions. The offer includes a $3 drafting allowance; drafting pauses at that limit with a support route. See the current inclusions and terms before purchase.

We have not obtained a Conjointly quote for this exact brief. Its pricing documentation distinguishes tool access and respondent sourcing. A free account is not evidence that the complete naming study, desired analysis and recruited sample cost nothing.

For a useful budget, write down software access, recruitment, targeting, question count, analysis access and any recurring commitment. Do not calculate savings by dividing a simulation price by the price of human responses: that hides a difference in what you are buying.

Which should you shortlist?

Consider InstaSights when you want a structured exploratory simulation, can work with closed response options, and will keep the simulation disclosure attached to the findings. Review the example naming study to understand how conflicting measures and exclusions affect interpretation.

Consider Conjointly when this decision requires actual participants or written explanations within a dedicated naming tool. Verify the proposed audience, final questionnaire, export access and quote before committing. Neither route replaces trademark clearance, real product experience or evidence of purchases.

A reasonable staged plan is to explore framing, narrow the questions and then collect the human evidence required for the final commitment. If actual customer feedback is the requirement from the start, do not substitute a simulation just because both products can display percentages.

Questions to settle before paying

  • Are you buying generated answers or responses from eligible people?
  • Can the study represent the intended audience and the exact naming context?
  • Does the questionnaire include the explanation or diagnostic detail you need?
  • Can you inspect response bases and retain the outputs needed for review?
  • What additional evidence will you collect if the names are close or the measures disagree?
