InstaSights vs. ChatGPT: compare the workflow, not an assumed accuracy score

A general assistant can help you plan or analyze research. A dedicated consumer-study product packages a particular process. Neither distinction proves whose generated answers match real consumers.

What this comparison does—and does not—claim

InstaSights publishes this page and sells the dedicated study workflow described here. This is a documentation-based explanation checked September 27, 2026, not a controlled comparison of outputs. We have not run a matched, repeated test with a recorded ChatGPT model, settings, timing and cost. We do not claim greater accuracy, lower total cost or superior reproducibility.

Separate three different jobs

  1. Plan the research: Clarify the decision, draft a neutral brief and review questions.
  2. Analyze supplied evidence: Work from existing, permissioned responses or other data, preserving their source.
  3. Generate hypothetical responses: Produce model-based output about an audience rather than collect new answers from people.

Official OpenAI documentation describes a workflow for scoping an analysis from business context and source exports, identifying missing inputs and preparing a reviewable answer. It calls for analyst review. That is different from treating invented consumer answers as collected data.

Do not describe ChatGPT as incapable of structured analysis or working with data merely to differentiate a paid product. Also do not assume that a plausible generated table represents actual customers.

What InstaSights packages

InstaSights provides a consumer-study sequence: brief, audience, editable questionnaire, simulated responses and study outputs. The standard offer includes 250 simulated consumers and up to 10 structured questions, with a summary, question results, audience comparisons, Excel workbook and raw CSV described on the product page.

The scope is bounded. Open-text response questions are not included in the standard offer. The single-study price lists $49.99 and includes a $3 drafting allowance before drafting pauses. A dedicated interface can make the available workflow clearer, but its existence does not independently validate the generated responses.

Use a naming brief to decide what you need

Suppose you are considering Daily Ritual, Soft Form and Bare Theory for a fictional moisturizer. If the immediate need is to spot leading wording, you can review the brief and questionnaire without generating any response records. Our naming template and free brief builder can also help at that stage.

If you already have actual customer responses and permission to use them, analysis should preserve those data and distinguish calculations from interpretation. Do not fill missing responses with generated values and present the combined set as customer evidence.

If you want a simulated study, inspect how the audience, questions and outputs are specified. Whether using a dedicated product or constructing your own workflow, retain the simulation label and ask for relevant validation evidence. If your decision requires actual people’s reactions, neither generated route meets that requirement by itself.

Keep enough detail to inspect the result

Retain the exact brief, questionnaire, answer options, audience specification, date, output and exclusions. For a general-assistant workflow, also record the product/model and tools actually used where available; do not assume a later session will recreate the same conditions. For a dedicated product, ask what version and execution information is available.

A file that opens successfully is not proof that its calculations or underlying assumptions are sound. Check bases, totals, category definitions and contradictions. Compare repeatability separately from agreement with an independent human reference.

Choose the process that fits the job

Use a general assistant when you want a flexible planning or analysis conversation and can review the sources and calculations. Investigate InstaSights when you want its specific structured simulation workflow and outputs. Choose human research when the evidence requirement is actual participation or observed behavior.

We have not established an equivalent total-cost comparison. Account capabilities, usage limits and available tools need confirmation for the actual assistant setup. Compare the complete task and review effort, not just the presence of a subscription or a per-study price.

For performance claims, a future matched evaluation would need the same brief, saved configurations, repeated runs, predefined scoring and appropriate reference data. This page reports no such experiment.

Review the outputs and limitations before paying for a dedicated study.
